Hi! I’m Sam...
Homebrewer, Craft Brewer & Founder of Homebrew Fanatics!
When I first started brewing 15 years ago I was just like you... excited about this opportunity to brew my very own beer at home...
In the beginning I made mistakes... lots of mistakes! I could tell I made mistakes because my beer tasted nothing like my favourite craft beers.
I was ok with that though... I was just pumped to actually be able to brew something that resembled beer in my own home.
But then a meet up with some local homebrewers changed everything...
Their beer tasted nothing like mine and more resembled my favourite craft beer!
I now knew it was possibly to brew craft quality beer at home!
But there must of been something I was missing in my brewing process... why didn’t my beer taste like craft beer?
I was hooked and determined to learn how...
From that point I was constantly consuming every bit of brewing related content I could find. Brewing books, brewing videos, podcasts, forums...
I eventually stepped up my learning...
The quest to making craft quality beer at home took me through a wave of experiences from landing work in winery, studying a winemaking degree, becoming a head brewer and eventually finding my way into one of Australia’s leading craft breweries, Bridge Road Brewers...
Through all these learnings and experiences I was able take my brewing knowledge to another level!
On top of this I had a major epiphany moment...
All the techniques and knowledge I was learning could be simply incorporated and replicated into a homebrew environment...
Plus they were learnings that I hadn’t previously come across in common homebrewing information sources....
I couldn’t have asked for a better blueprint in my quest to learning the art of producing craft quality beer at home
There was one problem though... my involvement in the commercial brewing industry meant that I began to loose my connection with the Homebrewing community....
I had my dream job... I should have been happy... but I wasn’t.
I knew that connecting back with homebrewing community was important and I also knew that I had a lot of knowledge to pass onto the current generation of homebrewers.
I stepped away from the commercial brewing scene with one dedicated mission to pass on my knowledge and help homebrewers create their own craft beer at home...
I couldn’t be happier!
There is nothing more rewarding now then seeing homebrewers learn and implement my knowledge into their own beer brewing process...
